About and data methodology
Whale Radar tracks the crypto derivatives market in real time: Hyperliquid whales, liquidations, funding, open interest and the biggest movers. The goal is fast, transparent numbers explained in plain language.
Where the data comes from
- Prices, funding, open interest, volume: Hyperliquid's public API, refreshed every 15 seconds. Prices shown are Hyperliquid mark prices.
- Whale trades: Hyperliquid's live trade feed. Fills of $250,000 or more are recorded, then the wallet's position is looked up to see whether it is long or short.
- Wallet positions: public on-chain Hyperliquid data (positions, leverage, liquidation price, PnL), refreshed every minute for tracked wallets.
- Liquidations: public liquidation feeds from Binance Futures and OKX.
- Price charts: 15-minute and 1-hour candles from Hyperliquid.
- News: RSS feeds from international crypto publications, always credited and linked to the original article.
How we calculate
- Whale long/short: the sum of position values held by tracked large wallets, per coin.
- Distance to liquidation: the percentage gap between the current price and a position's liquidation price. Under 3% is flagged "Near liquidation".
- Wallet win rate: the share of profitable closed trades among the wallet's recent trades.
- Market recaps: published twice a day (00:00 and 12:00 UTC). The "why" sections list data signals that coincided with each move (one-sided liquidations, open interest, funding, whale positioning, related headlines). They are not predictions.
Limits to keep in mind
- Exchanges only publish part of their liquidations, so liquidation totals are minimum figures.
- The whale list covers large wallets tracked by our system, not the entire market. A wallet may be hedged elsewhere.
- Wallet data is public; Whale Radar does not know who owns any wallet.
Editorial principles
- We report information. We do not give trade calls or buy/sell advice.
- We never copy other publications' articles; sources are always credited.
- Everything here is for reference only and is not investment advice. Leveraged derivatives trading can cost you your entire capital.
